Greetings, fellow penmonkeys/the two people that read this blog. Long time no blog post.
It seems I’ve encountered a bit of a snafu.
As I’m happily tipity-typing my way along in Opus Draft 2 as I madly try to finish it by this coming Sunday *panicking noises*, I become aware of tiny characters bouncing about my brain. Four of them, to be exact. They’re playing the part of the pesky toddlers, tying knots in my hair and wailing for attention.
These poor babies, who belong to a plot bunny that doesn’t even really have a plot, are viciously eating my arms (a Maggie Stiefvater phrase, I take no credit for it). Which as you can imagine, is very detrimental to my speed-writing, my trying-to-finish-this-draft-so-my-betas-can-quit-bugging-me-about-it.
This is an unavoidable problem. The last time I was getting so close to the end of finishing Opus Draft 1, I found that all I wanted to do was tease out some character arcs for a second book.
I fear there is no other solution other than to try to furiously corral my plot bunnies and soothe them, lest they grow teeth and/or I fall down a plot-bunny hole.
I will post progress a bit later, since I’m not done writing for the day.
